Kelana Serif is a bespoke typeface designed to expand the narrative of Linimasa Resto & Space’s conceptual Indonesian-themed restaurant in Los Angeles. The design blends the elegance and sophistication of traditional serif fonts with distinctive elements inspired by the vernacular typography of Indonesia’s culinary street vendors.

Each letterform is carefully crafted with meticulous attention to detail and balance, resulting in a versatile and culturally evocative font. Kelana Serif infuses projects with exotic beauty and cultural richness, whether used for visual identity applications, editorial design, or F&B products and packaging.

Forming Letters, Shaping Stories.

The name “Kelana” is derived from the Indonesian word, meaning “odyssey,” symbolizing the history of spices as a commodity that traveled across Indonesia, uniting people across islands to build friendship and cultural assimilation. The letterforms of Kelana Serif tell a story of communion and legacy. Inspired by the handwritten signs and bold market stall lettering, the typeface captures the passionate energy of street foods and the lush beauty of the Indonesian landscape. Each character’s flowing lines and intricate details reflect the warmth and hospitality inherent in Indonesian culture, evoking a sense of familiarity yet with a twist of modernity.

The Typeface that Accommodates Every Taste

Kelana Serif features five weights to enhance its versatility: Regular, Medium, Demi Bold, Bold, and Extra Bold. This variety of weights accommodates various applications such as product packaging, merchandise, visual identity applications, and more, seamlessly integrating across numerous design formats.
